Avionics and Defense power supplies have always been subjected to stringent requirements including transients, spikes, EMI, hold-up and monitoring specifications. As a result, the majority of power supplies have been designed specifically with discrete components.
With the introduction of COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf), the use of standard modules is employed more and more to design complex power supplies.
